Course description: 

Once you have the CACFP meal pattern compliance mastered, the next step in planning CACFP meals is making sure you cover all the basic nutrition needs. In this one hour session, participants will learn the importance of where the CACFP meal pattern comes from and how to incorporate basic nutrition into CACFP menu planning mastery.


This course is self-paced, not instructor led.


Access to the Internet and a valid email address.


This course requires no face-to-face classroom instruction. It will be available via the course web site. You will complete the course whenever it is most convenient for you. You may work on the course at any time of the day or night on any day of the week. This course is estimated to take 1 hour or less to complete. The course web site will track the completion of each lesson and assignment. You will be able to exit the course without completing it and pick up where you left off at any time.

  • Describe the nutrients that comprise the food we eat and how they satisfy the body’s nutritional needs.
  • Recognize the connection between the CACFP meal patterns and the nutrients we need for optimal health
  • And create nutrient-dense menus that meet the CACFP meal pattern requirements and incorporate USDA recommendations.
